Fill a Veteran's Freezer FAQ..
A True Community Partnership That Feeds Those Who Served
Every day, many veteran families in our community struggle to put nutritious meals on the table. While canned goods help, protein is one of the hardest and most expensive foods for families to afford.
That's why Freedom Pantry for Veterans & Sunnyside Meat Packers created the Fill a Veteran's Freezer Program—a partnership that brings together local dairies, livestock producers, custom meat processors, businesses, and generous community supporters to accomplish something incredible.
It truly is a Win-Win-Win.
Local Growers & Dairies Benefit
Many livestock producers occasionally have animals that may no longer be ideal for production but are still healthy and perfectly suitable for quality beef. Instead of facing transportation costs, auction fees, or financial loss, those animals can become a blessing to local veterans.
Veteran Families Receive High-Quality Protein
Through Freedom Pantry for Veterans, the donated beef is professionally processed, packaged, and distributed to carefully screened veteran and military families experiencing food insecurity. For many families, this meat provides weeks—or even months—of nutritious meals they otherwise could not afford.
The Entire Community Benefits
Every donation keeps food local, supports local agriculture, strengthens relationships between our farming community and veterans, and honors those who sacrificed for our freedom. It's neighbors helping neighbors in the most meaningful way.
How the Program Works
Eligible livestock is harvested through mobile processing, transported to a local custom meat processor, professionally cut and packaged, then distributed through Freedom Pantry for Veterans.
The program helps reduce logistical burdens for producers while ensuring every pound of meat reaches veteran families who truly need it.
How You Can Help
This program only succeeds because of community support.
We are looking for:
• Local dairies and cattle producers willing to donate eligible livestock.
• Financial sponsors to help cover harvesting and processing costs.
• Businesses that want to support local veterans.
• Community members who believe no veteran family should go without nutritious food.
Even if you cannot donate livestock, your financial donation helps pay for harvesting, processing, packaging, transportation, and freezer storage, allowing more veteran families to receive healthy, locally sourced beef.
Together, we can fill more than freezers...
We can fill homes with hope.
We can fill dinner tables with dignity.
We can remind our veterans that their community has not forgotten their service.
Our veterans had our backs. Now it's our turn to have theirs.
Every donation stays local. Every meal matters. Every veteran deserves to know their community cares.
